(Libya Twitter)-Jim Murphy has questioned the ability to sustain "high tempo operations", following government indications that Britain should prepare for a long-term conflict in Libya.
At Cabinet yesterday, Foreign Secretary William Hague said the Libya mission was heading in the right direction, but that "we need to prepare for the long haul".
Responding to the comments, which were summarised by a 10 Downing Street spokesman, Murphy called for clarity about the scope and "ultimate aim" of UK military action in Libya, whilst British forces were also fighting in Afghanistan and dealing with defence cuts.
"While the costs are rising there still appears to be no apparent endgame," he said.
Conflict continues we need to be clear, in light of the government's defence cuts, about the UK military's ability to sustain high tempo operations.
"Ministers must guarantee that no resources are moved from the frontline in Afghanistan and ongoing operations do not impede our obligations elsewhere.
